The
Throgs
Neck
Bridge
is a heavily traveled, 11,000-foot-long, suspended span bridge, connecting
Bronx and
Queens
. Existing construction varies, and consists of a 1,800 feet main span,
555 feet side spans and approach spans on both sides.

Scope
of the work includes design and Construction Support Services for
Anchorage
and Tower Protection. As a
part of design team we performed inspection of both towers and anchorages
on the Queens and
Bronx
sides. A preliminary
inspection report was prepared reporting the condition of Towers and
Anchorages and their Fender Systems.

Above water inspection of the existing timber fender systems for
both Towers and Anchorages

General condition inspection of exterior of the Anchorages and
Tower Interior

General structural inspection of the interior of Anchorages to
document structural configuration backed up with photographs. The inspection confirmed the interrelationship of different
structural elements including but not limited to cables, columns,
buttresses, beams, etc.

Inspection of the side span and approach span bearings at the
anchorages
